Hi!! as promised, ages ago, here is the update on my trip to Budapest and Croatia!!
It was a long time ago, and a somewhat dramatic trip, so there will be details missing. In all honesty it was not my favorite adventure, even though there were so many beauuuutiful things we saw. But, if you would like the inside scoop call me and we can gossip <3
On this trip it was me, Hanna, Hanna Z, Sophia and Gemma, the last three being our group of friends who were living together in Alicante.
Budapest:
it turns out there was once two sides of the city--Buda and Pest-- which I had no idea about
the whole time we were confusing Buda with Pest and honestly have no clue which we were staying on in the end
went down to the river and it was chilly as heck
stopped to have a drink in a fancy ass hotel lobby with everyone
we went out with someone from another hostel that the other girls knew from the plane and followed their pub crawl around
got to a big club with seven floors
I had a bad time
We went to the fancy baths that was cool but also I was afraid of getting my brain eaten by an amoeba
experienced mild biphobia
I walked around this big beautiful park by myself and it was really nice and fancy
went into a cool modern museum/theater building
cool women's/queer sex shop
vegan chocolate pancakes (LOVE)
Hanna and I went to the ruins bar which was awesome and so so cool
champagne boat tour on the river!!
Croatia:
Plitvice lakes national park!
indescribably beautiful. see photos of amazing waterfalls
walked right over them!!
looong hike on two sprained ankles = mild ouchy
Split!
solo adventuring around the beautiful flowers
think it was a national holiday?
laid on the rocky ass beach
went for a hike up to a church with a beautiful look out spot
Vegan Lasagne!
met some fun Canadians at the hostel!
I befriended the queer enby, of course
he ended up being a wonderful respite from the straights and a really kind person, made me feel much better
Hvar
it was chilly!! crazy windy!!
Hvar is an island and oh my GOSH there were so many sea urchins in the water!!
adored this hostel though and the staff was so wonderful and sweet
I made friends with two med students from Northwestern and a woman from France who works in vegan activism!
we went out for drinks but not that much was open because it was still the off season
had a great time chatting to them about their research and work
Dubronivk
coolest city in my opinion!!
rainy day on our way in had such a crazy time
went on a walk around the castle walls
went to the love stories museum with Hanna
tried to stand on a magical rock
went to an archeological museum of the history there
you will see in the photos that it's actually where they filmed king's landing for GOT but I cannot watch that show because it's way too dark for me
met up with the med students to go to a croatian rock concert in a venue in the walls of the city
honestly epic night
When Hanna and I got back, we were both sick as fuck and went immediately to the ER lol. No one was deathly ill but it was the only thing open. Fitting end to the trip.
Photos:
*The waterfall photos I just cannot get over omg.*
Here are some poll results!!
Regarding frogs...
Callie has by far seen the most frogs because she's a wilderness badass teaching science in the forest. One frog a week on average!
Regarding Thursdays...
most of you are working or in school from my very small sample size
LA has terrible traffic
you like sports
Regarding Olivia...
you are all wrong and GUTS is equally amazing to SOUR completely on par and impossible to choose a better album.
I'm listening to get him back! on repeat. She gets me.
Anyway, I love and miss you all!! I am getting settled in London now, and doing alright so far :) I start my first week of classes tomorrow so I'll try to do a current update soon too. Also, next flashback post is gonna be about my favorite city Berlin so stay tuned <3
Big hugs <3
